The Manufacturer's Briefcase

Everything you offer, one tap away, wherever your customer is.

The specs, manuals, parts lists, service requests and training material your customers already come to you for — on the phone in their pocket. On a plant floor, in a workshop, or somewhere with no signal at all, which is usually where the work happens.

You manage all of it yourself. Add a document or a promotion and the customers it applies to are told; a callout can be booked without a phone call — whilst you carry on with your existing processes exactly as they are.

WHAT IT IS

A private, personalised space for the people who run your equipment.

Industrial equipment stays in service for decades, so the people using yours are spread across hundreds of sites, shifts and job titles. The Briefcase gives each of them a space of their own: the units they run, by tag and serial, with the manuals, spares, bulletins and calibration dates that belong to those units rather than to the whole catalogue.

It is quicker than a search and quicker than an email, it holds everything in one place instead of scattered across a website, a store and a service form, and it keeps working when the signal does not.

Nothing about it asks your customers to change how they deal with you. It simply makes the things they already ask for easier to get hold of.

AND WHAT IT DOES FOR YOU

You manage it yourself, and it reaches them directly.

Everything in it is yours to change from an admin screen — products, documents, news, promotions. There is no release cycle, no ticket queue and nobody to ring.

It is the same three jobs your team already does, made quicker: keep the information current, tell customers when something changes, and take the work that comes back.

01

Manage your products and documents

Add a product, replace a datasheet, publish a service bulletin. It is live immediately, across every customer, with no app store submission, no review queue and no developer involved.

02

Tell them when something changes

A new document, a promotion, a superseded part or a calibration falling due — sent to the customers it applies to, with no algorithm in between and nobody charging you for the reach.

03

Take service bookings and callouts

A customer raises a service visit or a return from the same screen they found the manual on, and can follow its status afterwards — instead of a form that disappears into an inbox.

None of this replaces how you work today. Your team, your reps and your phone lines carry on exactly as they are. And because it is useful enough to be worth registering for, you gradually come to know who is running your equipment — as a by-product of serving them well, rather than as an exercise in its own right.

THE EVIDENCE
Above & Beyond Compression

Seven years live. Still signing up members last month.

Above & Beyond Compression is a Canadian energy-services and industrial-supply business — 16 brands, 27 product lines, engines and compressors that run for decades once installed. They put one of these in front of their customers in April 2019, and it has been running continuously ever since.

Every figure below was read from their live production database on 10 August 2026. Nothing here is projected, modelled or rounded up.

The number that matters isn't the total. It's that they came back.

A launch spike proves nothing — anyone can get downloads for a fortnight. What's hard is a stable population of signed-in people returning year after year.

And it tells them who's interested — 23 times in 27 days.

Detailed event tracking was added on 12 July 2026. In the 27 days to 8 August — an ordinary stretch with no campaign behind it — the app recorded 135 opens, 39 installs to a home screen, 33 product views and 19 technical documents opened. It also raised 23 lead alerts: a named customer opening an upgrade guide, or an unidentified visitor hitting gated content. That is the part with no website equivalent.

Two things we're not going to dress up

Those retention figures are signed-in sessions only. There's a much larger volume of anonymous traffic on top — 1,708 sessions in 2024 alone — but nobody can tell you who those people were, so we haven't counted them as members. That anonymity is the problem the product exists to solve, not a number to inflate a case study with.

And Above & Beyond went quiet. They published 135 posts in 2020, then 1 in 2025. The channel held 20 or more returning people every single year regardless. That's the strongest thing in the dataset — it kept its audience through four years of near-silence. It's also the clearest warning: it pays back far more when you actually feed it.

WHAT'S INSIDE

Everything your customers need, in one login.

Built from your own catalogue and documentation — material you already own, made findable on the phone in their pocket.

🏭

Installed base

Their plant, their tag numbers, their serials. The spine of the whole thing — everything else filters to it.

📚

Document library

Manuals, datasheets, bulletins and procedures, scoped to the equipment they actually own — and cached for offline.

🔔

Push notifications

Calibration due, safety bulletin, superseded part, new firmware. Straight to the engineer, with no algorithm in between.

📦

Products & spares

Your full catalogue with the correct maintenance kit for each unit, and reorder in the same flow.

🛠️

Service & RMA

Raise a return, book a field visit, track its status — instead of a form that disappears into an inbox.

🎓

Training

Procedures, courses and certification records where the technician actually is: at the machine.

📊

Lead alerts

When a registered customer opens an upgrade guide, your team hears about it the same day.

✏️

Your own admin

Change products, documents, news and notifications yourself. No release cycle, no ticket, no retainer.

WHAT TO SET IT AGAINST

A one-off build, set against things you already pay for every year.

It's a single fixed cost rather than a subscription, and the useful comparison isn't with software — it's with what you already spend to stay in front of customers. We won't put a number on your spending; you know these figures better than we do. Put ours next to them and the arithmetic tends to make itself.

One stand at one trade show

Space, build, freight, stand staff, travel and hotels — for three days of conversations, most of them with people you'll never identify. Then it's over, and next year you pay again.

This costs less, and in three years' time it's still running.

A year of printed literature

Design, print and distribution for material that's out of date the week it lands, can't be searched or filtered, and can never tell you who read it. Reprint it when a spec changes.

This updates from an admin screen, in a minute, at no cost.

The difference worth noticing is that a show and a print run stop the moment you stop paying for them. Above & Beyond's app has been running for seven years, and was still registering new customers last month.

There's no app store and no download. It installs to a home screen in one tap. No submission, no review queue, no separate iOS and Android builds, no forced-update treadmill and no developer on retainer. You change the products, documents and news yourself from an admin screen — exactly how Above & Beyond have run theirs since 2019.

On price: it depends on the size of your catalogue and how much of it you want in from the start, so we'd rather give you a real figure than a range. It's a short conversation, and there's no obligation attached to it.

SEE IT FOR YOURSELF

We'll build yours before you decide.

We build a working version with your own products, brands and documentation in it — then you look at it. Over a hundred industrial manufacturers and distributors already have one waiting.
